Ah-sana Yoga

When you're noticing the effects of aging ...

but you're not ready to get OLD!

Welcome to Ah-sana Yoga - a space for people who are beginning to feel the effects of aging but aren't ready to get old. You know...

  • Those creaking sounds in your knees and popping in your hips

  • Announcing yourself with a groan every time you get out of your chair

  • Getting down on the floor to pick something up...then wondering how you'll get back up again.

These may seem like "normal" aspects of aging but they don't have to be.

Hi, my name is Mary and I'm the founder of Ah-sana Yoga. When I started teaching in 2006, I thought that yoga was all about getting a nice workout and pushing my body as deeply as possible into poses to demonstrate my flexibility. What was I thinking?! These days I have a more sensible approach to my own practice and what I teach to others.

With so many yoga studios to choose from and free classes offered at gyms and fitness centers, why would you choose Ah-sana Yoga? Because you want to ...

  • build or maintain strength to continue your active lifestyle

  • get up and down off the floor to play with kids or grandkids or work in your garden

  • move with greater ease and less pain and feel better when you leave class than when you arrived

  • be in a community of people with similar expectations for their practice

I feel like I've been teaching my whole life! I started by tutoring inner-city children when I was young. After college I taught ...

  • 16 years in elementary and middle schools

  • Graduate courses to Foreign Language and ESL teachers

  • Organizing / Clutter Clearing courses (yeah, I used to own a business called Organizing Matters!)

  • Yoga (obviously) but I also taught and mentored new yoga teachers-in-training

In short, teaching is in my blood!

At Ah-sana Yoga our small classes (max of 9 students) assure that you're more than just a face in the crowd.

If you're intrigued but still apprehensive, let's talk! Give me a call (614-638-6279) and I'll answer your questions. No slimy sales (promise!); just the information you want.

Small Group Classes:

All classes at Ah-sana Yoga are offered virtually via Zoom. We limit class size to assure that no matter which class you select, you'll get personal attention. At Ah-sana Yoga you're not just another body in the (virtual) room.

Our Yoga for Flexibility class is perfect for those who have never done yoga before. The pace is slow and each pose is broken down, allowing time to:

  • get set up in the basic shape

  • refine or adjust the pose to make it more balanced, supported, and comfortable

  • hold the pose to reap the benefits

  • learn how to transition out of the pose and into another

Our Yoga for Strength & Flexibility classes assume a basic understanding of posture and a degree of comfort moving from one to the next. The pace of the class is faster than in * classes and more advanced poses are introduced and practiced. These classes are appropriate for most students, including beginners. Options are offered to increase or decrease the intensity of postures.

Yoga for Flexibility: Increase muscular flexibility and range of motion in joints with gentle Hatha Yoga postures. No prior experience required. Suitable for most fitness levels.

Midday Moves: A 45-minute midday movement break. Stretches and flowing movements to get your blood moving, work out the morning kinks, and leave you refreshed and ready to face the rest of your day. Suitable for most fitness levels.

All classes are offered virtually online via Zoom Videoconferencing.
